India Visa for United Kingdom Passport Holders

The applicant must provide Original undamaged passport that:

  • Must  with at least 6 months of remaining validity
  • With 2 blank visa pages facing each other
  • A photocopy of the passport's data page and the photo page if it is separate

The applicant must provide 2 passport sized (5cm x 5cm without borders) photograph that:

  • Is taken against a white background
  • Have been taken within the last 6 months
  • Show the applicant’s head and shoulders
  • Please do not use stapler when attaching the photograph to the application.

The applicant must provide a fully completed application form online, printed dated and signed. ​

A letter of authorisation (Authorisation Letter) that includes a statement to allow the D&V to represent the visa application to the Indian Consulate/Visa Centre that:

  • Must include the applicant full name as it appears in their passport
  • person's name or the applicant's full name(nominee)Must leave space for D&V to insert their designated 
  • Must be dated and signed by applicant Original signature as it appears in their passport if applicable.

The applicant must provide evidance of the following clearance and approval letters as follows:

  • A copy of event clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India (GoI).
  • Administrative approval of the Nodal Ministry, Government of India (GoI).
  • Political clearance from the M/O External Affairs, Government of India (GoI).
  • Clearance from the concerned State Government (s).

The UK employer must provide an Original UK Supporting Letter that:

  • Printed on a company letterhead
  • Addressed to The Indian High Commission in London
  • Includes the applicants full name 
  • Includes the reason for the applicants journey and name of organisations/company to be visited
  • Includes the number of entries required and the duration of the stay
  • Includes a statement of acceptance of financial responsibility for the visa applicant trip
  • Includes the signature of the applicant's supervisor or HR department representative

The applicant must provide a Letter of Invitation (LOI) from the company/sponsor that they will be visiting in India that:

  • Is printed on a company letterhead addressed to ''The Indian High Commission in London''
  • Includes the applicants name, position held within the company
  • Includes the reason for the applicants journey (i.e. business meetings, consultancy, etc) 
  • Includes the number of entries and the duration of the stay
  • Includes the signature of representative inviting the applicant or HR department 

Applicants must fill place, date and sign this declaration form.

For applicants whose previous nationality was Indian before acquiring foreign nationality they must provide: 

  • Copy of Surrender Certificate and Copy of the Cancelled Indian Passport (Self-Attested) OR
  • lf travelled to India before, please provide your previous Passport with Indian Visa.

Applicants holding a NON -UK Passport or Originating from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or China
will require to provide additional documents 

Same Day or Express  service is available for applicants required to travel urgently for business reasons ONLY. Applicants may choose any available appointment but we can submit at anytime no problem.

  • Photocopy of Parent’s passports along with the copy of their current Indian Visa, if already holding one. If parents are Indian citizens, copy of the resident status in the UK would be required.
  • In case of Divorce, Child Custody Letter from court in respect of the child is required.
  • In case of Single Parent, Solicitor’s Letter and Council Benefit Letter will be required.
  • In case of Minor’s Application/Declaration either of the parents can sign the application/declaration form

Applicants holding a NON -UK Passport or Originating from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or China
will require to provide additional documents 

For Media Related Professionals, Police or Armed Forces, Commercial Pilots/Crew Members, Charity/Social Workers, Researchers, and Priest going to India for Tourism:

  • Employers letter addressed to the HCI, London OR it’s respective consulates stating the purpose.
  • For Media Related professionals who are Self Employed need to provide an Undertaking letter stating no Professional related activities would be undertaken during the stay in India.

The above letters should be provided on the letter head of the company and addressed to High Commission of India and its respective Consulates.

The Applicants must provide a copy of their employment contract that:

  • Is signed by signed by both parties.
  • Includes a specific clause for payment of income tax in India - must be Highlighted.
  • State the applicant income/salary in Rupees - must be Highlighted
  • State the complete chain of employment from the UK, via any intermediate contracting company, to the company in India in cases where the applicant is not being directly employed by an Indian company.

For Employment in Journalism and the Media Sector:
For Company employing foreign workers in the IT software and IT enabled services sector :

  • Declaration from the Sponsor in its Letter Head duly signed that their Company is/are IT/ITeS Company.
  • Declaration/Confirmation from the Sponsor in its letter Head that the Company is/are Export Oriented Unit (EOU) or a Software Technology Park of India (STPI) unit. Registration Number is required.

Applicants that foreign engineers/technicians coming to India for installation and commissioning of equipment/machines/tools in terms of the contract for supply of such equipment/machines/tools should be mentioned.
Applicants that work for the Power industry must apply for a Project (‘P’) visa . Processing times will take several weeks if approvals have not been obtained from local Indian authorities.

  • The Additional Information Form must be filled completely if applicable.
  • Proof of company registartion docments in India - copy is acceptable.

The applicant must provide copy of their professional diplomas, qualifications or certificates proving their academic qualifications in the field of the job applied for (i.e. correspondent to the job title).

For applicants whose previous nationality was Indian before acquiring foreign nationality they must provide:

  • In addition, if the High Commission or the Consulate General requires an applicant to attend an interview, D&V will contact the applicant and inform the date and time of the interview accordingly.

The applicant must provide Original undamaged passport that:

  • Must  with at least 6 months of remaining validity
  • With 2 blank visa pages facing each other
  • A photocopy of the passport's data page and the photo page if it is separate

The applicant must provide 2 passport sized (5cm x 5cm without borders) photograph that:

  • Is taken against a white background
  • Have been taken within the last 6 months
  • Show the applicant’s head and shoulders
  • Please do not use stapler when attaching the photograph to the application.

The applicant must provide a fully completed application form online, printed dated and signed. ​

The family members/dependants of a foreigner who is granted Employment Visa must provide proof of Relationship in the form of the followings:

  • Birth certificate in respect of children.
  • Marriage certificate in respect of husband\wife.
  • Recommendation letter from the employer of the person holding ‘Employment’ visa.

A letter of authorisation (Authorisation Letter) that includes a statement to allow the D&V to represent the visa application to the Indian Consulate/Visa Centre that:

  • Must include the applicant full name as it appears in their passport
  • person's name or the applicant's full name(nominee)Must leave space for D&V to insert their designated 
  • Must be dated and signed by applicant Original signature as it appears in their passport if applicable.

The applicant must provide an original and fully completed and signed Entry Visa Undertaking Form.
 

Applicants must fill place, date and sign this declaration form.

Letter of Invitation (LOI) or admission letter for short-term courses like yoga, mountaineering, spiritual courses etc. Invitation letter from concerned authorities or organisations in India offering the paidor unpaid internships along with the letter from the college or university in the UK.

For Minor Child (Under 16 Years of age):

  • A copy of the child’s birth certificate showing both the parents’ names.
  • Consent letter addressed to the HCI, London OR its respective consulates signed by both the parents
  • Photocopy of Parent’s passports along with the copy of their current Indian Visa, if already holding one. If parents are Indian citizens, copy of the resident status in the UK would be required.
  • In case of Divorce, Child Custody Letter from court in respect of the child is required.
  • In case of Single Parent, Solicitor’s Letter and Council Benefit Letter will be required.
  • In case of Minor’s Application/Declaration either of the parents can sign the application/declaration form

Applicants holding a NON -UK Passport or Originating from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or China
will require to provide additional documents 

For applicants whose previous nationality was Indian before acquiring foreign nationality they must provide: 

  • Copy of Surrender Certificate and Copy of the Cancelled Indian Passport (Self-Attested) OR
  • lf travelled to India before, please provide your previous Passport with Indian Visa.

Same Day or Express  service is available for applicants required to travel urgently for business reasons ONLY. Applicants may choose any available appointment but we can submit at anytime no problem.

  • Addressed to The Indian High Commission in London
  • Includes the applicants full name 
  • Includes the reason for the applicants' journey, detailed programme and the places to be visited for journalism purposes. 
  • Includes the number of entries required and the duration of the stay
  • Includes a statement of acceptance of financial responsibility for the visa applicant trip
  • Includes the signature of the applicant's supervisor or HR department representative
